Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast

Every November, we host the Annual Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast in the North End. Now in its 19th year, the breakfast has become the largest Community Economic Development (CED) event in Canada with nearly 1000 people in attendance, including community members, media representatives, business leaders, civil servants, students, community workers, MLAs and the Premier – all in support of LITE.

Our community partner-catered breakfast supports training and employment opportunities for Winnipeg’s inner city residents with approximately 50 jobs being created or supported by this event every year.

The event features an Arts and Crafts sale that gives 24 inner-city crafters the opportunity to set up a booth free of charge and sell their goods.  The “goods” range from unique Christmas ornaments and jewelry to baked goods and art/photography pieces.

Local musicians and performers contribute their amazing talents towards the event entertainment, and a raffle with locally sourced prizing is an event favourite.

Additionally, all groceries for the breakfast are purchased from Neechi Foods, an inner-city Aboriginal Food Co-operative operating in the inner-city.

This is a truly inspiring and community-focused event – all are welcome!

This year’s Breakfast is Friday, November 27th from 7-10 am (come-and-go) at the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre (45 Robinson at Dufferin).
