Planned Giving – Make a Bequest

For many generous Winnipeggers, giving to LITE has become an annual way to invest in the inner city and create lasting change in the community. A well written will ensures that your loved ones are cared for after you’re gone. It can ensure that your charitable contributions continue as well. When you decide to include LITE in your will, you are ensuring that your support of the community and your generosity will continue for generations to come. There are several ways to amend your will to include LITE. For your convenience we have included below the legal language that must be included to ensure that your wishes are properly honoured.

How to make a change to your existing will and include LITE:

With your solicitor you can make minor changes or additions to your will. This can be done by adding a Codicil, which is an additional document that becomes part of your will. You can use a Codicil to include a bequest to LITE.

Leaving specific legacies:

“I give and bequeath to Local Investment Toward Employment Inc. (charitable registration # 868999558 RR0001) for its use and general purposes, the sum of $__________ free of all duties and taxes payable at my death.”

Residuary Bequests:

“I give and bequeath to Local Investment Toward Employment Inc. (charitable registration # 868999558 RR0001) for its use and general purposes, the rest and residue of my Estate free of all duties and taxes payable at my death.”
