Donations to LITE’s Grants Campaign help to fund training and employment related programming essential to poverty reduction and a healthy local economy in our inner city.
It’s through these programs that local residents facing barriers to employment are able to gain the skills and training needed to get off of social assistance, acquire full-time employment and become self-reliant, confident and contributing members of our society.
Wolseley Family Place and their Food Connections catering program is a LITE Grant Partner for 2015 geared towards low-income single moms. Acknowledging that a lack of accessible and affordable child care is one of the barriers for these moms, the agency provides free childcare and other critical supports for women in the program.
Upon program completion the participants can apply for full-time employment in catering, kitchens, banquets and canteens with the acquired Food Handler’s certificate and a reference from the program coordinator.
Everyone wants to work, but there are many challenges preventing people from finding and keeping a job. LITE’s Grants Campaign helps us to fund programs that offer supportive work and training environments, resulting in the best chances for success of participants.
Give generously to our Grants Campaign – the more money we raise, the more essential programming we can fund.
