Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast

We host the Annual Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast each fall in the North End. The community partner-catered breakfast is a celebration of CED in Winnipeg’s inner city and is a highlight of the LITE campaign.

Apart from raising funds for our fall campaign, this event brings together supporters and newcomers to LITE, while promoting and demonstrating CED in action. The Breakfast attracts up to 1000 people, including community members, business leaders, civil servants,
students, community workers, MLAs and the Premier – all in support of LITE.

Local musicians, artists, and craftspeople (Arts & Crafts Sale) all earn income through the breakfast along with our caterer partners. A local Aboriginal worker’s co-op, Neechi Foods, is the grocer for the breakfast.

Tickets are $12, $5 for low-income earners and free for children under 12 years, and can be purchased beginning Nov. 1 at all Assiniboine Credit Union Locations, at the LITE office (942-8578), or at the door at the Breakfast.

To purchase tickets or to volunteer, please call us at 942-8578 or contact us by e-mail.

Run for Rights

The Run for Rights is held in partnership with a growing number of community- based organizations. Run, walk, cycle, or blade to raise awareness about the rights of marginalized peoples!

Runners (or walkers, cyclists, and bladers) gather pledges to support LITE's fundraising campaign. Other volunteers help at the LITE registration table and act as race marshalls for the runners. The run is followed by a picnic for all the Run for Rights volunteers. This June event is great for the whole family!

Runner sponsor sheets are mailed out with our May newsletter. If you would like to start finding sponsors earlier, download LITE's Pledge form.

2010's Run takes place on Saturday, June 5. Registration is at 8:30 am at Kildonan Park. To sign up as a non-runner volunteer, please call us in May or early June at 942-8578. We need many volunteers!

CED Leadership Tour

This fall we are hosting the first CED Leadership Tour in Winnipeg! This is an opportunity for business leaders to meet the owners/operators of inner-city businesses and organisations who are leaders in CED. These businesses and organisations are partners of LITE and exemplify the strong initiative and holistic approaches that will build a strong inner-city.
