Newsletter writing (April 2013)
LITE needs a volunteer to write an article for our upcoming May newsletter. If you enjoy writing and would be interested in interviewing a LITE grant partner, please contact Jen Buhr at: liteadmin@mymts.net or 204-942-8578 by Monday, April 8th.
12th Annual Run for Rights (Saturday, June 1st)
Every year, runners, walkers, cyclists and roller bladers gather pledges to support LITE’s fundraising campaign. Other volunteers help out as route marshals for the run (are stationed along the route to direct and cheer on the runners). The Run is followed by a picnic and entertainment for all Run for Rights volunteers. 2013′s Run takes place on Saturday, June 1st. Runner registration is at 8:30 am at Kildonan Park and the Run begins at 9:30 am. Volunteer route marshals will be asked to come out for 8 am.

‘Give Change to Make Change’ Campaign (0ngoing)
LITE is collecting pennies and other change from generous Winnipegers looking to donate their penny/change jars as the penny goes out of circulation. In February & March, we will need volunteers to help us with dropping off and picking up penny collection boxes at businesses, schools and faith-based organizations who are collecting for LITE. We will also need help with cashing in the change at the bank and/or credit union.

Faith-based committee
If you are an active member of a faith-based community and want to help us spread the word about LITE and our work in Winnipeg’s inner city, sign up to participate in LITE’s faith-based fundraising committee! Activities include strategic planning, coordinating and making CED/LITE presentations, and providing input on information materials. Volunteer your professional services:
Would you like to donate your professional skills? At various times during the year we need assistance with graphic design, printing, web design, advertising, office administration and fundraising.
Current Opportunities:
Administrative:
We are looking for a volunteer with an extensive knowledge of GiftWorks software to help us make our database as efficient as possible.
Photography:
Professional photographer needed to volunteer to take photos of our partners for use in LITE’s promotional materials and on our website.
Graphic Design:
Graphic designer with knowledge of Adobe programs, particularly Indesign, to help LITE, as needed, with updating and creating new materials based on our new look/brand. Volunteer must have access to Adobe Indesign.

Interns:
Past interns, especially from Red River College and Menno Simons College, helped with planning and coordinating events, worked on researching, writing, editing, photography, and layout for LITE materials, worked with committees, and did any number of other projects in the office and community. Get in touch with us, and we’ll do our best to match your skill set with our needs. There are also possibilities for interships through the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg. A LITE internship is a great way to get experience in CED and the non-profit sector.
