Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast
LITE’s 16th annual Wild Blueberry Pancake Breakfast is on Friday, November 22nd at the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre, 45 Robinson at Dufferin (7-10 am).
If you’re interested in volunteering, we have volunteer positions open for the day of the breakfast with two shifts to choose from: 6:45-8:30 am or 8:15-10 am.
We also have volunteer opportunities for those who want to help out but can’t make it on the day of the breakfast, or for people who simply want to attend the breakfast as a patron instead of a volunteer. We need people to help set up the night before (5-8 pm), to help with take down after the breakfast, and volunteers to help put up posters around the city in October.
If you’re interested in volunteering at the breakfast or before the breakfast, please contact us.
‘Give Change to Make Change’ Campaign (0ngoing)
LITE is collecting pennies and other change from generous Winnipegers looking to donate their penny/change jars as the penny goes out of circulation. In February & March, we will need volunteers to help us with dropping off and picking up penny collection boxes at businesses, schools and faith-based organizations who are collecting for LITE. We will also need help with cashing in the change at the bank and/or credit union.

Put your skills to work for the inner city! Contact us…
Past interns, especially from Red River College and Menno Simons College, helped with planning and coordinating events, worked on researching, writing, editing, photography, and layout for LITE materials, worked with committees, and did any number of other projects in the office and community. Get in touch with us, and we’ll do our best to match your skill set with our needs. There are also possibilities for internships through the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg. A LITE internship is a great way to get experience in CED and the non-profit sector.
