Each partner organization we work with to create job experiences has changing capacities, distinct community members, and needs. Our goal is to walk alongside partners and their community members to create job experiences and engage in economic development activities that fit them and their goals.
Grants
LITE’s grant programs support employment and training opportunities designed by partner organizations to meet the supportive workplace needs of their participants.
Social Purchasing
LITE uses the power of social purchasing to support employment and economic development. This helps grow the economy of Winnipeg’s poorest neighbourhoods.
Education & Advocacy
The social economy is a diverse field with unique challenges and opportunities.
Working with community organizations, social enterprises, and private businesses, our education and advocacy work supports the creation and growth of businesses designed to benefit the community they operate in.
Volunteer Program
Getting a strong start in the labour market often means mixing education with experience. Our Job Skills Volunteer Program provides both.
Volunteers in our office learn the basics of administration, receive coaching for communications skills, and more. Volunteers set their own goals, and we provide a job reference to all who successfully complete 40 hours of service.
Community action, community impact
In 2022, our direct economic impact (including the value of service-based activities) was calculated at $145K. 47% supported improving public safety and bridging cultural/ethnic/racial boundaries.
